Polish Festival @ Federation Square

Out of curiosity, I ventured into the city to attend the Polish Festival, being held in Federation Square. The square was packed with people, I suppose, by a lot of Polish people. Do you think its rude to call Polish people Poles?

There was singing and dancing on stage. There were stalls selling christmas decorations, books and jewelleries as well as art work.

I learnt some interesting facts from the festival. Did you know that Michael Klim was born in Poland? Other notable polish descendents include Alicia Molik and Michael Kasprowicz.

No festival in complete without food. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the opportunity to sample any of them on offer because the food corner, set up by the river, was packed with people. I didn’t manage to get details of Polish restaurants nor cafes. Although I know that the Europa Cake Shop down in St Kilda specialise in Polish cakes.

I hope there will be more of such events in Federation Square, allowing people like me to sample and know more about other cultures.

Welcome sign on the screen to the Polish Festival.
