Australian Maps on the Internet

Ever needed a quick, free easy to use online map which is actually designed for australian locations?

look no further. Zoomin.com.au has almost an electronic version of Melways, in an eye pleasing easy to use format. the only thing its lacking is public transport locations and route planners. but if you need to know where a specific place is, its the place to go.

type in local addresses and not worry about it catering to only americans. its made exclusively for australian locations and addresses. i.e 34 Swanston Street Carlton Victoria 3053.

take a look for yourself next time you need a quick look at a map.

My personal preference has been the Street-Directory website as it’s using the Melway maps.

It’ll also give you a Melway map reference, which is handy.

Woops, the website didn’t show up, it is:

Yeah, if i was going to use an online street directory, I’d probably prefer that one over Zoom In. With Zoom In I typed in and address in Collins Street Melbourne, and I had to sort through every Collins Street in Greater Melbourne, and it couldn’t pinpoint for me where the building I had indicated was. Whereas with Street-directory.com.auI just typed in the address of the place and it showed me exactly where it was.

ooops ok. i guess it still needs a bit of work then. it has a nice web 2.0 feel i suppose, but yeah … substance over form!

I’ve always like whereis.com.au too but you have to question them - they are trying (or at least were) to monetize links to certain places on maps? Hello? You can’t do that! People don’t pay for links!
