Make it So!

Jul%2011_%202004%20-%20With%20Elmo.jpgHe’s little,
he’s cuddly,
he giggles a lot.
He makes strange sounds and he’s very excitable - especially when it comes to Melbourne.

Sound like Elmo visiting Rove?

Welcome_John.jpgNah, it’s our Lord Mayor, John So.

It’s pretty safe to say most Melbournians thought “What the..?” when John first became our Lord Mayor; surviving the madly contested 2001 elections. His elocution classes and CoM spokeschick/weather gal/gameshow host “Lah-vin-ia” have helped and despite his critics, the man has more than done his a bit for Melbourne. His rising popularity has been deafening with his rousing receptions throughout the Games and at this year’s Big Day Out. We do love our lil battler.

award05_box.jpgIn October this year, our Johnnie turns 60 - xdafied.com.au have put together “The John So Birthday Project” where you can leave a warm and fuzzy message for Melbourne’s main man. Coincidently, the race for the World Mayor Award also closes its polls in October.

Last year, Johnnie made it into the Top Ten at #10. This year he’s survived Round One and made it to the top 50 out of 677 Mayors around the world.

You and all your pals can vote for him and gift him the moniker “World Mayor 06″ and an interesting award to boot- go on….Make it So!

I was at the closing ceremony of the Comm Games and it was amazing.

Each time someone mentioned “John So” the crowd would just go nuts!

    It was amazing.

yeah, I heard it was pretty fantastic. I was at the Big Day Out this year, it was gorgeous - he just kept giggling throughout his speech - then when he shouted “let’s Rock n Roll” the crowds went absolutely wild.

    Classic.
