Why drive when the train’s so much cheaper!?
When was the last time one of you boarderd a train on the much maligned Melbourne train network. True, the network has a loooooonnnnnnng (emphasis on the L) way to go to become a 2nd Class system, but is anyone aware of their wonderful cut-throat prices on weekends?
Why drive from the city to say, Dandenong when you can buy a $2.50 Sunday Saver that allows you unlimited travel on Zones 1, 2 and 3 with just one ticket?
If you own a monthly Zone 1 ticket, and i know many who do, are you aware that you’re allowed unlimited travel on Zones 1, 2 and 3 too?
I found these out the hard way this weekend when i had to travel to Mentone to pick up my brand new PC. After fumbling with change and cussing at the expense one has to pay to get to Zone 2, a friendly ticket operator told me about the deals.
Gee, thanks for telling me AFTER i’ve bought the ticket!
But oh well, it serves for good travel deals on weekends. Don’t miss out on it!

ha! i was thinking about writing a post on sunday saver a while ago, but apparently you beat me to it. however, the approach i was thinking was a little bit different from yours, so maybe i can still write up another post on sunday saver afterall.
When did this become a competition? *muses*
That’s all fair enough, but why are you buying a PC in Mentone? There’s better places in zone 1 (like MSY or somewhere).
Actually, the PC’s bought from Scorptec in Clayton. I was visitng a friend in Mentone first, before he drives me to Clayton for the PC pickup.
Check out Scorptec. Good stuff.
I some places like clayton, there is no choice but to drive especially when you live in places like glen iris and burwood. But i still do enjoy the free public transport services on christmas and boxing days.
worth noting that monthly and weekly zone 1 tickets (at least, i presume all zones) work in ALL zones during saturdays and sundays.
so no need a sunday saver even…
