Southern cross station

The day has arrived. For the first time, I alighted from my train onto the platform of the ex Spencer street station, or the lately named Southern cross station. I must say it looks different, totally unexpected.

The last time I used the station, it was a dingy and depressing-looking station. Now, it is airy, a bit too windy, still a bit dark and it has yet to acquire that dingy look. What I found lacking was a decent cafe in the station with seats. It is difficult to wait for friends in the cold. Given the open-air nature of the station, mini turbulences is frequently created, making the station much more colder than it is. An enclosed cafe somewhere within the station would provide some shelter away from the wind and comfort from the cold.

Maybe when the station is fully operational there will be a cafe. But until then, I will have to seek comfort from the cold elsewhere.
