Cafe Review: Mr Tulk
If you are a big fan of Chai Latte, here’s a good news for you. The cafe at State Library, Mr Tulk, makes the best chai latte I have ever had.
When I looked at their drinks menu, their coffee costs $2.8, which is quite normal; their chai latte, however costs $4 - I am intrigued - I know usually chai latte is a little bit more expensive than coffee, but they never differentiate by such a large margin. So I asked their staff how they make their chai latte, and turns out it’s just the chai latte I am looking for: They blend heated soy milk into loose leaf chai, not like those made by Gloria Jeans - blending chai syrup into heated milk. (Anyway, blending heated soy into loose leaf chai is how chai latte suppose to be made, too bad majority of the cafes like to take the shortcut.)
I also enjoyed a meatball pannini and an extra bottle of apple & pear juice by their mistake.

In regard to the cafe’s atmosphere, the staffs are friendly, and it’s not too busy (well, today is Saturday). Interior decoration is quite good, not trying too hard to look cool. (I am very sick of cafes and restaurants that only use mahogany, glass, very dim lighting/a lot of lighting and cornered decorations - these are what I classified as “trying too hard”)
All in all, Mr Tulk is a quite good place to have lunch :)
(There, my very first cafe review on Melbourne Metroblogging!)
