Skool Dayz Erazed

school%20dayz.jpgI found out about this earlier in the month and it’s been par boiling since. Tonight a girlfriend showed me pics of her little cuz, do you remember those great kinda, primary – arrgghh highschool pics you had once a year – and it all came back.

I had braces in high school, at it was such a huge relief to have them removed just before my final year photos. Nevertheless, I have 3 years of pics with those train tracks sparkling. I’m much older now and the cringe factor has dissipated, it’s who I was AND thanks to that I’ve pretty damn straight teeth these days.

I have, and I’m sure each of you have your own anecdote, the bad hair cut pic; the scratch across the face cause your brother pushed you right off the swing pic; that year puberty hit and decided to make your face it’s camping ground – or and I love this one, the year my cuz decided to “shape” her brows for the first time…..and got a lil carried away.

It seems this year National School Photography, a Melbourne company who take the pics for heaps of schools are offering a special new service. For just 8 bucks, parents can get touched up school photos…..just a little airbrushing for little Jimmy.

Apparently it’s quite popular for parents of kids as young as grade one! Even more popular is parents asking for their teens pimples to vanish.

No offence to mom and dad, but what the hell does that say to your kid?

Honey, I love you, but you’re so much better blemish free?

Not that surprising considering the obsession with celebs, media et al – but surely school pics should be a little sacred? You start airbrushing those zits, what goes next?

I’d airbrush a nice Fu Manchu.

What the hell are these kids parents going to use to embarrass them at their 21st’s now?!
I agree – they ARE sacred, it’s funny to look back at your school photo and go, “Heh… I was SUCH a DORK!”

i know…’s too sad to think that kids these days might not have bad eighties hairdos; braces and specs to have a giggle over…..
