Irritating sale calls

Have people been receiving phone calls purporting from a company called viptel? They will start the call stating that your phone number has been randomly selected to ‘win’ a free mobile phone, etc.

I think I was more in shock than angry. In the middle of preparing for dinner; an unlisted phone number and I get a sale call from an unknown company? What do you do to get the caller to bloody hangup? I could

My favourite is telling them you have something in the oven that you need to attend to and that you’ll be right back. Then you leave the phone for 15 mins or so, come back, listen for 20 seconds, mention the oven again. Rinse and repeat.

Personally I always let it go through to the answering machine, unless caller id shows it’s somebody I know. But I’ve always been tempted to try this! http://www.xs4all.nl/~egbg/counterscript.html

We disconnected our home phone and setup VOIP (calls over the internet). Our number isn’t listed anywhere, and we haven’t had a single sales call from anyone in over 2 years!

    Oh, and these are fantastic
