Melbourne Fringe Festival

fringefest.jpgTomorrow marks the opening of the 2006 Melbourne Fringe Festival. Expect to see some funky art, music and dance around Melbourne. According to their website, 25% of their shows will be free.

Some of the circus acts look pretty good but can’t really make heads or tails about the rest of the program. Can anyone recommend anything to see?

Being a comedy buff, I have to recommend Stephen K Amos, and the local acts Andrew McLelland, The Bedroom Philsopher, and Lawrence Leung. The Drowsy Drivers’ Keating! has won awards, and it’s free!

Ah, just watching Stephen K Amos on Rove. Funny English guy.

One of the more high profile projects is Material World, located at Fed Square. It’s a house that three artists worked on in collaboration with the Asylum Seekers Resouce Centre and it’s about asylum seekers’ experience of finding a home in Australia.
