Lets play … what is it?

We have been reading about the fruit and vegetable contamination that occured recently in a Safeway supermarket. But the amount of information that came out is scarce. So, lets play what is it, given the information we have so far. We know that
1. The objects were “substantially sized and would be obvious to the naked eye” according to the Herald Sun.
2. “nothing like a chemical that could contaminate”.
3. “very unlikely they would have been ingested,”
4. “contaminant came to be scattered amongst the fruit and vegetables.” according to the Age.
5. “The items were large enough to be easily recognised and would be difficult to swallow. ”

I’m thinking golf balls? stones?
