Bananas to become cheaper, soon

While we all know mangoes are in season again, my favorite (and almost staple) fruit, the banana is set to make a comeback.

At anywhere between $12-15 per kilogram, they’re set to drop to a more affordable $5-7 per kilogram sometime in November (at least in Melbourne; it’ll probably cost more in Tasmania, and maybe less in Sydney… you get the drift).

Currently, there’s a lot of ongoing wet weather up north, in Queensland, so in the event that we don’t get bananas cheaper in November, we’re only going to see them early next year!

As always, check out the Australian Banana Growers’ Council (a shared website for The Australian Banana Promotions Company too). And if banana statistics are what you’re after, check out the consignment statistics (weekly available too!)

I don’t really eat a lot of bananas but with all the attention bananas have been having and the high prices, Ive been having cravings.

I used to eat a banana a day, at least, and now? Bugger. Damn the weather. I will soon…
