It will be another hour before we know which horse is going to be crowned the Melbourne Cup winner but already the pains of a pseudo public holiday is here.

The roads around Flemington are filled with cars. The trains are jammed packed with people. The booze buses are out. So, watch out if you are trying to make your way home later today.

But on the other hand, this is the race that will stop the nation, and maybe, some other parts of the world. I was checking out the Melbourne Cup Carnival, its more than just the horses. There is the Melbourne cup business network, the fashion and the charity challenge. It is also the one event that generates millions of dollars for Victoria.
