Melbourne Police Round-up

  1. I saw police riding horses instead of walking.
  2. I saw police in their cars instead of walking.
  3. The only time I saw police walking is - booking a speeding driver - that requires them to get off the car, and walk towards the car which sped, issue the ticket then jump back to the police car.
  4. Three of my friends’ place got burglared within 3 months in Carlton, and not to mention that I don’t know a zillion people living in Carlton.
  5. I found police in Drummond Street Station not very friendly.
  6. My friend told me she got interrogated by the police in Drummond Street Station about her Islamic last name when she’s the victim of a burglar.

What does that tell ya about our police?

Relax. Give the coppers a break. They try their best. I’m sure it would be hard to be especially nice to others when they have constant false reports, when they are under constant threat and face mockery from the general population. It was however only today that i saw a young school kid try and grab the cop’s gun at Flinder’s Street for example. I mean i have seen some very unfriendly cops too, but who are we to complain when we are a part of one of the least corrupt nations in the world?

I’ve dealt with a few of the Carlton cops and they have all been friendly and helpful. They are a bit slow responding to things and they will always take their car (or horse) to investigate things. Carlton cops are the nicest I have dealt with my life. Just remember treat them the way you expect to be treated and don’t argue, even if you think you are right.

Suprisingly, most of the cops I see are in good shape. There is a lack of walkabout cops like the ones you see in movies from back in the day. Walkabout cops would be very useful on busy streets where there are pubs/bars. Brunswick St, Smith St., Chapel St., Swanston St (near Flinders St.) are but a few places that need walking patrols. Or better yet give em Segways.
