Shattered: Farewell Glass House - please come back soon…..
It was a sad day for Australian television - and I mean actual Australian content, rather than american shows - last wednesday, and I was fortunate enough to catch the repeat tonight of the LAST episode of the Glass House on the abc.
Yup, Wil, Corrine and the irrepressable Dave will no longer be delighting us with their fabulous wit and satire on Wednesday nights. After 6 years, they’ve been axed…..which is really depressing considering that they are one of the ABC’s most highest rating shows?!?!?
And they won an AFI…..got nominated for another this year…..AND nominated for a Logie for the very first time?!?!
WHY? According to ABC Newsonline no “good” explanation was given.
Yes, the show was extremely biased……but isn’t that the Aussie way? Aussies love having a go at someone!
Ironically, the last show had 945,000 viewers - their largest audience…..EVER. Wil’s been keeping a blog on his myspace profile.
You can re-live a few steller moments with a fantastic review of 200 episodes on the official Glass House website.
To the crew, thanks for making me cry with laughter….You’ll be missed by many and hopefully we’ll see you back soon.
Dear Auntie - if you’re listening…..all I want for Christmas is my Glass House…..pretty please?

As taxpayers that fund the ABC, we should have a right to know why the Glasshouse was canceled. All the reasons listed are speculative.
Maybe one of the other networks will pick up The Glass House for next season. Who knows…
according to Wil, their people have talked to pretty much everyone bar sbs - http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=57576066&blogID=196190971&MyToken=95ea930a-976e-4872-93fb-1bc64435f4dd
don’t know whether I could handle a commercial station version of the glass house….
Meh,
The Glass House was SO unfunny. Wil trotting out the same old simpsons jokes, Corrine acting dumb and Dave, well he’s alright.
Wil Anderson is the Andrew G of Aussie comedy.
oh aaron, Wil rocks - hence his successful transition from radio to television and now writing…..Corrine was a brilliant balance between Wil’s super fast wit and well, Dave….whose damn funny in his own right….actually Dave’s humour only works for me with the other two - his improv/interview moments were gold!
Wil’s certainly not the Andrew G of Aussie comedy - apols to Andrew G, but the boy’s just a little too smart for that comparison.
