Its the march, in a bikini, from Clifton Park (next to the train station in Brunswick) right to the Islamic Information & Support Center. Its the march to protect our freedom against sexist remarks; i.e. rape (which is a horrible crime) is not the fault of the women.
They make it clear that it will be free of profanity or racial abuse. And it will be peaceful. And there shall be no alcohol.
I don’t look good in a bikini, so apparently beachwear will be fine. Note that its sometime next January, so watch the wiki page if you’re interested.
Although they say no alcohol, violence or racial remarks, there is bound to be people who are going to do something especially the latter.
Its one thing to protest in the city but for seemingly a big crowd of white non-Muslims to protest outside an Islamic centre, that is asking for trouble.
Id love to be optimistic but less we forget the Cronula riots. Coincidently, everyone was in beachwear there as well.
Ending the march at the Islamic Information and Support Centre seems like a provocation. Is it BYO pitchforks?
They should have just done it through the city to get the TV coverage, then the message gets across and there’s less chance of a rampage.
apparently this was to commemorate the Cronulla riots amongst many other things. According to the wiki - it seems like it’s been delayed to Jan because of public liability insurance.
I ask why at the mosques? Why not in the city centres for ALL to see? Why bait people at their place of worship?
Bikinis and beachwear - sure….good way to get the TV crews there…..but really, isn’t there a better way to make a point?

Why at a Mosque ? Well actually it was the information centre, not a mosque and as pointed out, it will now be in the CBD.
BUT..
I have no problem with it being:
a) At a mosque
b) On the anniversary of the Cronulla event.
What a lot of folk don’t realize is what Islam as a religion actually stands for.
TWO VERSIONS.
There is what I often describe as the ’screen saver’ version, such as you see on Islamic web sites, where its all about “One-ness of God and peace among men”
HISTORIC ‘REAL’ VERSION.
This side is seldom seen in Western Countries. But it IS seen in Iraq and Saudi Arabia and other more strict Islamic societies.
To fully appreciate this, you need to look at the behavior of Zarkawi. Remember the beheadings ?
Have peek at Ogrish (now liveleak) if you have a strong stomach, and look at a beheading. Seriously. Then, compare that with this done by Mohammed himself !

Book 016, Number 4130:
Anas b. Malik reported that some people belonging (to the tribe) of ‘Uraina came to Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) at Medina, but they found its climate uncogenial. So Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said to them: If you so like, you may go to the camels of Sadaqa and drink their milk and urine. They did so and were all right. They then fell upon the shepherds and killed them and turned apostates from Islam and drove off the camels of the Prophet (may peace be upon him). This news reached Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) and he sent (people) on their track and they were (brought) and handed over to him. He (the Holy Prophet) got their hands cut off, and their feet, and put out their eyes, and threw them on the stony ground until they died.
Now… this man (Mohammed)thought nothing of such cruelty.
It also explains why Zarkawi, who had a spiritual advisor (an IMAM) informing him of what he can and cannot do in his insurgency operations actually DID the same kind of thing.
Given that Muslims claim ‘Mohammed is the best of mankind’ and are constantly urged to follow his wonderful example, it should not surprise us that much cruelty is perpetrated in the name if Islam.
Violence, was the standard treatment of enemies of Mohammed, and this is why the Pope mentioned in his lecture about it. How did Muslims respond ? ‘With Violence’, exactly as the Pope’s quoted Byzantime Emperor said.
So, there is no reason ‘not’ to make such points at Mosques and perhaps there is every reason to MAKE such points.

May I ask ‘on what’ do you base that statement ?
Clearly the image you have of Muslims is one of ‘violent people’ and one only has to look at the evidence world wide, as follows:
a) Danish Cartoon issue
b) Pope quoting an ancient emperor.
and the single most notable response was.. yep, you got it..VIOLENCE, RAGE, ANGER.. SCREAMING..YELLING, THREATS…
So, your observation is quite well grounded in reality.

I know nothing about this protesting group, but one thing stands out. The harshest thing they say is ‘God abhors you’, I see not a single threat of violence, I see no signs “Death to you” but I do see one saying “Repent, read the Bible”, WOW.. so ferocious.. so scarey, I think I’ll cringe in my closet over this… NOT…
Don’t take any notice of the Pastor Fred Phelps mob, he is the one who danced on the grave of the homosexual murdered. That Phelps is amazing.. he and his extended family are his ‘church’ yet he gets world wide attention. In any case, always compare so called Christian behavior with the teaching and life of Christ.
Clearly, not all Muslims are so inclined, (as the protesters in the vid) many just want to get on with life. But the more important question is this. “Is the violence we observed in fact ‘true’ Islam, is it sanctioned by the Quran and Hadith and Sunnah”? particularizing this further, is it consistent with the behaviour of Mohammed the so called prophet ?
Now..if we can answer ‘yes’ based on evidence to these questions, we have a confident answer.

Lets not be under any illusions, that site is dedicated to the destruction of Islam. BUT…and its a most important but, the sources are impeccable, and are Islamic.
Now..Icecube, you appear to be a Muslim. This means your psychological profile will include a mindset which has most likely rationalized and re-constructed or even is not aware of or if aware has probably ’sidelined’ some of the ugly truths about Mohammed and his teaching in the Quran (note..’his’…teaching) and hadith.
Unfortunately the audio on my puter is dead so I can’t hear what the bloke is saying in it. Presumably its a defense of Islam ?
Be that as it may, the important question for you, is not to continually hunger for the ’sugar coated’ version, but to look closely at the real version and to gather up enough strength and courage to question your own cultural upbringing (if you were born into a Muslim family) or.. to revisit the ‘propoganda’ you were exposed to when you were ‘guided’ to Islam…. check out the same link provided above, and if you wish further assistance by all means write to me jjjdrmot@yahoo.com.au

CONFRONTATION/PROVOCATION. This is a minor issue, the only kind of confrontation we need worry about is when people have baseball bats in the hands. The rally is promoted as peaceful and would be duly supervised by police who are fully informed of the goings on. My own feeling is that they are not presenting an alternative, its just ‘anti Islamic’ well.. I propose to rectify this, and proclaim Christ Jesus as The Way.
