Movies filmed in Melbourne
Wikipedia has compiled a list of movies filmed in Melbourne. There are of course a good deal of Australian films but there were a couple that surprised me.
Charlotte’s Web, which was released recently, was filmed in Heidelberg, Melbourne city centre, and Williamstown. Even more interesting is the Jackie Chan movie, Mr. Nice Guy, which was filmed in Melbourne Central. I don’t see myself ever watching Charlotte’s Web but I might check out Mr. Nice Guy.

Yeah, I can remember when the Jackie Chan movie was being filmed here. I saw them filming something in front of Off Ya Tree on Swanston St, some action scene in a horse carriage I think? Haven’t seen the movie so I don’t know if it’s in the film or not.
That Jackie Chan movie is possibly the worst thing he’s ever put his name to. Soooo bad.
Yeah the horse carriege scene is in it. Melbourne Central looked different then, but shots of the famous pointed dome is in the movie.
There’re better Jackie Chan movies out there. But in the late 90s Jackie was beginning to make Hollywood (read: the Western world) sit up with his brand of action and comedy, so Mr Nice Guy was another good attempt to bridge the cultural and language divide.
Tell yourself this at least, that Jackie Chan speaks better English than our Lord Mayor John So. Jackie Chan learns and speaks American English. John So speaks pidgin gibberish.
Team up John So with Chris Tucker for the new Rush Hour film.
