Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, from Melbourne!

After the welcome from Auckland, Melbourne has to join the party to welcome in the new year of 2007. Along with our neighbours in Sydney, Melbourne welcomes in the new year in the usual way of fireworks along the river. Although we do not have the big sent off from a harbour bridge, our affair was much more cozy.

From my balcony, I could view the many fireworks in the various suburbs, whether the fireworks were legal or not, was not in the minds of the revellers.

So, New Year resolution?

IMHO, I would love a much more peaceful year, with less disasters and a lot more rain. Rain, which we need in abundance, to avoid further water restrictions as well as to lessen the effects of bushfires, but also to need our farmers, across the country. Disasters, both natural and artificial, is something I wish could be minimized. War mongers, please take your love of war and conflict to some other planet.

What is/are your New Year resolution(s) for this year? What are your wishes and plans?

I have a lot of personal goals, but one of the major ones is to experience & become better-acquainted with Melbourne. I moved here in October & I really need to get my teeth into the place!

    Welcome to Melbourne, Gala.

Where would you like to start? Perhaps the authors here can give you a good run-down…hehe…

Ooh! Okay. A list of good cafes & Chinese restaurants in the CBD would be a great start! I live on Swanston Street & a girl gets hungry, you know. In terms of connecting with the city, though, I guess making friends is helpful. I’m working on it but it’s not as easy as I thought it would be. Wah!
