Apple flagship store to open in Melbourne!

For Apple geeks like me, this is very good news.

Plans are in the works for the demolition of the historic Fun Factory on the corner of Toorak Road & Chapel Street in the thriving suburb of South Yarra. The space would be converted into a huge retail plaza, flanked by a hotel & a high-rise apartment building. The Apple store would be the major structure in the plaza.

It’s a very raunchy-looking building. A big, super-modern, glass-&-steel structure. It looks like it might need full-time window cleaners, like the store on Fifth Avenue in New York. Pictures & original story here.

Looks like it would be a way off… but Melbourne needs something like this! I’m so excited, & I just can’t hide it… etc.!

    Sounds great to me.

The fun factory is a bit worn out and it is one of the less aesthetic areas in the South Yarra/Prahran area. For me, the days of the fun factory ended when the gaming arcade closed down.

It’s time for some new development at the site. Bring it on!
