Public Transport Fares to Increase Sunday

It’s that time again when public transport fares go up. Originally, prices were set to go up last November but were pushed forward to March of this year. After all the train delays, the fare increase was pushed forward another 3 months.

Fares from June 3:

City Saver - $2.40, up .10
2 Hour (Zone 1) - $3.30 , up .10
Daily (Zone 1) - $6.30 , up .20

Andrew, from the Kensington Victoria blog made a great post about the transport increase, in which he actually called up various agencies to complain.

Sunday savers and x10s wouldn’t be affected, would they? Else I’m going to stock them up like, right now. Hahah

I cannot justify the price increment or the price which I akin to daylight robbery.

Which is why I switched to the two-wheeler to get around.

Who’d have thought I’d have to switch BACK to public transport after my accident. LOL.

    Such is life.

Personally i think it should be free. Even the arch-duke of privatisation himself (Jeff Kennett) thought it should be a gold coin donation.

Hi Guys, I’ve got all my reserves about the price, about payment, about how unfair is the system, but what really it makes me furious about the transport system is the lack of security. Even if you pay more and more the lack of security is still a problem and seems to me that no one cares about it.
Example, yestarday on my way back hoem from Bourke to St Kilda, two f… young drunk blokes messed up with a indian girl being absolutely racists with her, myself and other bloke asked the guys to stop it, but the girl got so scared that she got off crying before her stop.
    Its just unfair.
    Great post guys,
    Cheers

Good on ya for standing up to them. I suppose the only thing you can do in those circumstances other than stop the incident yourself is to tell the driver.

Incidents like that really irritate me. I suggest you or anyone take video of thugs like that and I will gladly post it up here.

ahem, the video should also be sent to crime stoppers. racism, is a crime, last i checked…

Being racist is not a crime unless there is some kind of physical attack attached to it. Like the old saying “sticks and stones may break…”
