Here’s Monopoly Australia - the updated one.
Monopoly Australia’s Here and Now Edition placed its properties (on the board, of course) up for auction awhile back for a spanking new renovated board.
The currency involved: 16.8 million votes from the Australian public. The stakes: Prime positions on the board, most exquisite being what’s known to seasoned Classic Monopoly players as Mayfair (also known to many other players as “The Deep Blue One Before Go”).
The results are now out… and guess which city/state came up as prime real estate? South Australia’s Barossa and Adelaide. Advertising message: Please start booking your flights now - South Australia is the place to be.
(Update: Widely suspected that they cheated! Read Neil’s comment below…)
Victoria’s Sovereign Hill, Great Ocean Road and Melbourne came in third (Yellow… what, third?! I demand a recount!), after Western Australia’s Kalgoorlie, Broome and Perth (Green).
Sydney was lost amongst the mess of national politics and is nowhere to be found on the board.
