What is normal behaviour?
Recently, I was in one of the food court’s of Highpoint Shopping Centre. I spied an extended family having lunch. Once the mother had finished, she proceeded to change the nappy of her infant right on the bench. There were people eating their meals, a couple of whom were sitting on the bench right behind her. They had the full treatment of the entire process of nappy changing and what it consisted.
You might say the baby change room was too far away. But it was right by the food court, a bare 10 metres away.
My question is, what is the right thing to do? For the mother and for the people around. Would you have dared go up to the mother and requested that she did the nappy changing in the changing room or just ignored the whole thing as a normal event? What would you have done?
I was just fascinated by the entire episode. The only thing I can say about the couple, who watched the entire nappy changing episode, they did not finish their meals.

If this happened under “normal” situation, sorry it’s just wrong.
Other people don’t need to suffer…its just wrong!

How’s this different from breastfeeding in public anyway? Seriously……
err….it’s very different to breastfeeding, seriously.
AFAIK, breastfeeding doesn’t give you, or the people who’s eating at a busy food court bad odour. Poo smell doesn’t go well with food generally, seriously.
Not to mention the hygienic issue. Poo is generally the thing that makes public toilet filled with germs and bacteria and force people to squat on toilet seats. And baby poo is no different. Do you wash your hand before you eat? Sure. Do you want the restaurant that cooks your food to be clean? Sure. And how about someone changes nappy a few metres away and undone all that? Seriously.
Why force people to have to eat when you change nappy in front of them? Have you ever seen anyone that’s forced to eat his food in the toilet? No! Seriously.
I find it hard to believe that it’s being compared to breastfeeding. In fact I find it hard to believe that in this day and age people still oppose breastfeeding.

totally unacceptable.
Besides the hygiene issue, it’s just plain rude and inconsiderate.
I have 2 kids and I would NEVER do something as dumb as that. If you have babies, and you have to go to the shopping center with them, learn where the baby change rooms are..
There is nothing wrong with that. Its totally acceptable !! As long as the shit doesn’t fly out …
Of course it’s not normal, and not hygenic. If the health and safety inspectors were walking past they’d have a heart attack!
I’m not opposed to breastfeeding. If anything, I’m pro-breasts. Breasts are wonderful parts of the human body. They give the nutrience babies need; men like the shapliness of the mammaries and women stress about their cleavage all the time in an age of false beauty.
HOWEVER.
I do not want to see a boob popped out in the table across you just when you are about to tuck in for a meal. It’s unsightly, and warning or not, a boob in a public eating area is just wrong. Breastfeeding in a quiet public corner without intrusion of too many eyes is okay.
