The early bird catches the train (free)

Early commuters will be getting a free ride through the Frankston and Sydenham lines with the new “Earlybird’ Met card. This, provided if they arrive at their destination before 7am.

This is an attempt to reduce post-dawn congestion (though I swear the main problem lies with ‘Your Train is Late - Connex apologise for the inconvenience caused’). Nevertheless on trial over the two lines for now, ‘Earlybird’ is being considered to be extended over other rail lines if the scheme is successful.

Maybe they will be considering running an advertisement encouraging fare-evaders to ride the pre-7am trains too.

Never will affect me, though. I choose to sleep in.

It’s a good initiative by the Government, but the commuters would still need to buy a monthly ticket when they go home every night. If I had to buy a monthly ticket anyway, why would I wake up extra early?

Hmmm… To not get caught up next to an unbrushed dude with bedhead in a crowded train at rush hour, I guess. :)
