Event: T-SWAP A(Wear)ness
Location: Bowen Street, RMIT
Date: 19 September 2007
Time: 11am onwards (while t-shirts last)
Website: http://tswap.blogspot.com/

A team of student from the Applied Communication school have come up with this ingenious idea of swapping old tee shirts for brand new tee shirts. Each brand new tee shirt is printed with a charitable organization, and you get to pick one of your choice. Pretty nifty I must say.

The organizations involved are:
- Amnesty International
- Australian Conservation Foundation
- Leukaemia Foundation
- Make Poverty History
- Red Cross
- RSPCA
- The Big Issue
- The National Heart Foundation
- The Wilderness Society
- Variety The Childrens Charity

I know I’ll be there tomorrow. I’m from the Applied Communication school meself. Gota support your communication friends! Cya there!

i understand the idea, swapping used t-shirts for brand new ones leveraging awareness for the non-profit organizations.
Sorry, but I couldn’t understand what the used t-shirts will be used for…
Anyway, I’ll be there for sure.
    Great post,
    Cheers

I don’t know. Recycling perhaps? Or they have a tee shirt fetish? Hehe.

New t-shirts and goodie bags in exchange for awareness and a pile of smelly old t-shirts? Doesn’t seem like the charities are getting the better end of the deal…

It’s not about getting the better end of the deal. Charity organizations would get some good publicity
in a positive way and RMIT students would have something to gain in the form of a new T-Shirt and a goody bag. It’s a “win-win”-situation. I think the used T-Shirts were going to go the Salvation Army…

I traded in one teeshirt and got six teeshirts in return. The guys were closing up - it was just past 4pm - and were trying to clear their ’stock’. And yes, the tee shirts go to the Salvation Army.

All in all, good stuff and win-win situation.

    Hi guys,

Thank you very much for participating!

The T-shirts we collect do indeed go towards Salvation Army and our main intention was to create a(wear)ness for the organisations involve.

We hope that future students at RMIT will continue to hold this event as we had alot of positive feedback from students wanting this to be an annual event! Anyway, all in all it was a great success and for you guys who participated, watch our for tswap.blogspot.com for pictures and video clips!

    Sincerely,
    Team Swap

p.s Thanks John for supporting the event and spreading the word! Hope you’re enjoying your new pj’s ;)
