Are you born in 1912, 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984 or1996? If so, then you are born in the year of the rat, according to the chinese zodiac, where the new year will officially starts on 7th Feb.

However, if one was born in the southern hemisphere after the month of August during those years you mentioned (ncluding the year 2008) , then one is born under the Chinese zodiac of the suceeding year. Here in the southern hemisphere like Australia , the year of the Rat (2008) ends on August 1st which in turn is the first day of the first lunar month of the of the Ox year.
