Where Art Thou Week 10-Flinders Street Station
OK, that was too easy. Consider that one a warmup. Congrats to Squirt. Flinders Street Station has been operating in one manner or another since 1854 but it wasn’t until 1910 that the clocks were put in. The station has gone through many renovations with the last one completed in 2007. On one renovation, the analogue clocks were changed to digital clocks but after much public outcry, they were switched back. destined to be turned into video screens but after much public outcry, those plans were scrapped (Thanks Andrew).
Interesting fact: Ever wonder why people mostly sit on the stairs and not elsewhere? Seeing many families waiting and sleeping outside the station, the builders involved with the renovation in the 1980’s decided to make the stairs heated. So no matter how cold it is outside, the stairs will keep at least your bottom half warm.

I did not know about the steps being heated. I recall one version of the City Square had heated bluestone heating but it cost so much to run, it was switched off.
I don’t believe digital clocks replaced the present ones. There was a proposal, but outrage followed and instead they were converted to electric instead of being operated by a man with a long stick.
Thanks, seems that Wikipedia is incorrect. Made correction above via http://www.buslines.com.au/hillsidetrains/history.html
