hawthorn hawks: premiership team 2008!

the premiers, hawthorn hawks.

the premiers, hawthorn hawks.

a bleak day for all geelong fans. the hawks deserved it though, considering how geelong were unable to capitalise on their chances.

overall, a win for the afl. a far far more exciting game than last year’s grand final. but to be fair, it is hard to beat last year’s lopsidedness.

one for the history books :
HAWTHORN 5.2 8.3 14.5 18.7 (115)
GEELONG 5.3 6.12 9.18 11.23 (89)

I’m absolutely stunned. I’m not a Geelong fan but you got to feel sorry for a team that wins 21 of 22 regular season games, 2 of 2 finals games, then loses the Grand Final. Seems like a big waste…makes me sad. Geelong needed to kick straight but then Hawthorn played really well. Good on Crawford.."that’s what I’m talking about".

I was working in the September Club grounds today and arrived at the G by 7.55AM, thinking it was way too early to report for work. I was amazed at what i saw – oval ball obsessed fans packed like sardines trying to get through. Don’t these people have better things to do lol. The game starts at 2.30PM! What did they do for six whole hours? lol. And these are the same people who would rather watch paint dry than watch the REAL football? Puh-leeze…

But I followed the game anyway. Hawthorn matched the Cats ball for ball, I think they deserved their win. You can only win that many games through brute strength and luck.
