Yearly Wrapup: February 2006
Over the next twelve days, we will revisit some of the posts from the past year.
A Danish newspaper publishes cartoons portraying the prophet Mohammed.
Hilarity doesn’t follow and instead there are anti-Danish and anti-Christian
demonstrations. None of the newspapers in Australia published the cartoons.
$17 bucks for a ticket and most of the cars are locked. I don’t think this
will ever change.
"I realised the trains are more crowded these days, especially in the
mornings. Not only were the people packed like sardines, it felt as if oxygen
was slowly being sucked out of the carriages too….Just imagine what the
carriages will be like during the commonwealth games …" Connex surprisingly
increased the number of trains running during the Commonwealth games to
compensate for more people and the trains ended up a lot less full. Are the
trains back to full capacity now?
Melbournians were very nervous about the increase of people and traffic to
the city during the Commonwealth games. It ended up not being that bad at
all.
Of course, what is Metroblogging Melbourne without mentioning Krispy Kreme
Doughnuts. mmm donuts. Everyone had a comment about Krispy Kremes and there
wasn’t even a location in Victoria yet. KK teased us with 10,000 free donuts
at QV and 4 months later, Victoria’s first KK store opened in Narre Warren.
