Telstra Etihad Stadium Panorama

Footy at the Dome by suzy_j

Well, we are about 3 weeks away from the start of the 2009 AFL season. What’s usually a boring NAB has proved quite interesting with the debut of the troubled Ben Cousins for Richmond.  In what is probably the biggest panorama I’ve ever seen online (10945 x 4202), suzy_j has taken a lovely photo of the game from last Thursday.  It’s also interesting to see the AFL is not backing down to referring to Etihad Stadium as it’s previous name, the Telstra Dome.

hawthorn hawks: premiership team 2008!

the premiers, hawthorn hawks.

the premiers, hawthorn hawks.

a bleak day for all geelong fans. the hawks deserved it though, considering how geelong were unable to capitalise on their chances.

overall, a win for the afl. a far far more exciting game than last year’s grand final. but to be fair, it is hard to beat last year’s lopsidedness.

one for the history books :
HAWTHORN 5.2 8.3 14.5 18.7 (115)
GEELONG 5.3 6.12 9.18 11.23 (89)

Where Art Thou Week 14-Telstra Dome, Matthew Kreuzer

June 1 132

Almost as quick as last week, shniken, guessed the place, the time, and the person correctly. This picture was taken from the seats in between the interchange benches at last week’s match between Geelong and Carlton. The player on the bicycle is Matthew Kreuzer, last year’s #1 draft pick. It must be distracting hearing Kruz! from the crowd everytime he touches the ball. This in conjunction with picking up Chris Judd from West Coast has put the Blues from the bottom of the ladder last year, to almost breaking into the 8. Towards the end of the game, Carlton’s Paul Bower got into a crunching tackle and copped a season ending shoulder injury. To see a guy that huge on the verge of tears showed just how painful footy can be.

Wayne Carey is heading north

And good riddance! Queensland is welcome to have him for as long as possible. I don’t care if he was a great sports person. The only adjectives I have for describing this person are womanizing, drunken and druggie.
